The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is one of the most popular American television drama series. It’s loosely based on Robert Kirkman’s popular comic book series of the same name. The series stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, sheriff’s deputy who awakens from a coma in a world infested by zombies (“walkers”). Rick sets out to find his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs), and encounters other survivors along the way.

The series, airing on AMC since October 31, 2010, received many award nominations (such as Writers Guild of America Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series Drama) and has attained strong Nielsen ratings. The Walking Dead, developed by Frank Darabont (director of the “Shawshank Redemption” and “The Green Mile”), received 10.9 million viewers for its season three premiere and is currently the most-watched basic cable drama telecast in history. The series has been translated into numerous languages and is currently airing in countries such as Germany, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Poland, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia.
